St Peter’s Pool is a natural swimming spot cut into the limestone cliffs at the tip of the Delimara Peninsula, a short drive from Marsaxlokk. There’s no entry fee and no ticket booth — just flat rock platforms to sunbathe on, a horseshoe-shaped inlet of clear water, and ledges locals use for cliff jumping if you’re feeling brave. It’s one of the best swimming spots on the island precisely because it isn’t a beach — no sand, no sunbeds, just rock and sea. The water is clear enough to see the bottom on a calm day, which makes it good for snorkelling as well as swimming. Go early, ideally before 10am in summer, since it’s popular and the small car park fills fast once the day gets going. The approach is along a narrow, unpaved road, so it helps to know it’s there rather than stumble on it by accident. There’s no shade and no facilities, so bring water, sun protection and anything else you’ll need for a few hours by the sea. It’s at its best from late spring through early autumn, when the water is warm enough to swim in comfortably. Pair it with a stop in Marsaxlokk afterwards for lunch by the fishing boats.
