Sliema and Tigné Point sit across the water from Valletta, and the promenade between them is one of the best stretches of coast in Malta for an evening walk — with no shortage of places to stop along the way. If you’re staying in one of our Sliema apartments, most of this is within easy walking distance.
Breakfast and coffee
Start the day at one of the small cafés tucked just back from the seafront rather than on the main promenade itself — you’ll pay less and get a better coffee. A pastizzi from a local bakery, eaten standing up with a coffee, is still the most Maltese way to start a morning.
Lunch with a view
The stretch of promenade facing Valletta is lined with restaurants that make the most of the view across Marsamxett Harbour. Seafood is the obvious choice here — look for a menu built around the day’s catch rather than a long laminated list, which is usually a good sign the kitchen is cooking to order.
Tigné Point in the evening
Tigné Point has a more contemporary feel, with a mix of restaurants around the piazza that get busy as the sun goes down. It’s a good spot if you want a wider choice of cuisines in one place, and it’s an easy stroll back to most Sliema apartments afterwards.
Quick and easy
Not every meal needs to be an occasion. If you’re back late or just want something simple, Sliema has plenty of good takeaway options, and every Mink Homes apartment has a proper kitchen if you’d rather pick up fresh ingredients from a local supermarket and cook for yourself.
Markets and self-catering
If you’d rather cook than eat out every night, Sliema has several well-stocked supermarkets within a short walk of most apartments, along with smaller grocers for fresh bread, fruit and Maltese cheeses. It’s an easy way to keep costs down on a longer stay without giving up good food.
Staying in Sliema puts you within walking distance of all of this, with Valletta a short ferry hop away. Browse our properties in Sliema and Tigné, or check availability for your dates.
