Malta’s mix of history, coast and city walking means your packing list should cover more than a beach holiday. Here’s what actually earns its place in the case, based on what our guests tend to need.
Footwear first
Valletta’s streets are cobbled and often sloped, and Mdina and the Three Cities are much the same. Bring proper walking shoes, not just sandals — your feet will thank you after a full day covering the bastions on foot.
Layer for the evening
Even in summer, a light layer for the evening is worth packing, especially near the water in Sliema or Birgu where the breeze picks up after sunset. In spring and autumn, add a proper jacket; in winter, a warm layer and something waterproof for the occasional shower.
Sun protection, always
Malta gets strong sun for most of the year, not just in summer. Sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses are worth packing whatever month you’re travelling, along with a reusable water bottle — you’ll find refill points around Valletta and the main towns.
What you don’t need to bring
Every Mink Homes apartment is fully equipped, so leave the travel kettle and the multi-adapter kitchen kit at home. You’ll find a proper kitchen, washing machine, iron and enough starter supplies — toiletries, washing-up liquid, laundry detergent — to cover your first couple of days. There’s no need to overpack toiletries either; you can restock easily at a local supermarket.
A few extras worth it
A day bag for exploring, a swimsuit even outside peak summer (the sea stays swimmable well into October), and a UK/EU adapter if you’re travelling from outside Europe — Malta uses UK-style three-pin sockets.
Laundry, sorted
Because every apartment has its own washing machine, you can genuinely pack lighter and do a load partway through a longer stay rather than bringing enough for the whole trip.
Once you’ve packed, all that’s left is picking where to stay. Browse our properties across Malta, or check availability for your dates.
